How to manage your salon's Google reviews (and why they matter)

Google reviews decide who people call. How to get them, reply to them and make the most of them for your hair salon or beauty studio.

When someone searches for “hair salon near me”, the first thing they see is a handful of listings with stars. And they almost always call the ones with more and better reviews. For a salon, that list is now more important than any advert. The good news is that it can be worked on.

Start by getting your listing right

It all starts with your Google Business Profile, the listing that shows your name, hours, phone number and photos. Make sure it is complete and up to date: correct hours, exact address, a phone number someone can answer and real photos of the salon and the work. A well-kept listing builds trust before anyone reads a single review.

Ask for reviews, without hesitating

Most happy clients do not leave a review simply because it does not occur to them. It is enough to ask at the right moment: at the end, when the person is leaving satisfied. Make it easy — a direct link, a code to scan — and ask naturally. What you must never do is buy or invent reviews: it goes against Google's rules and it shows; the damage to trust is far worse than the benefit.

Reply to all of them, including the bad ones

Replying to reviews says a lot about a business. To the good ones, a brief thank you. To the bad ones — and they will come — calmly and politely: thank them for the feedback, apologise if it is warranted and offer to put it right. Whoever reads it does not judge the complaint so much as how you respond to it. A well-handled criticism can look better than ten compliments.

The review starts long before

Here is the key that usually gets forgotten: good reviews are not born when you ask for them, they are born from the whole experience. And that experience starts at the first contact. A salon that replies fast, that leaves no message unanswered and where booking is easy starts with an advantage. When no client is left without a reply, there are more satisfied clients, and more good reviews.

That part — always answering, and answering well — is exactly what a virtual assistant like ClaudIA in a beauty salon solves: it replies instantly and books the appointment, so the first impression is good from minute one.

In short

Look after the listing, ask for reviews naturally, reply to all of them and, above all, offer service that deserves five stars. Reviews are the consequence; good work is the cause.
